  • Let me disclaim…

Most people that write about prolife and abortion issues have have no personal knowledge about what they are writing or saying, only the passion of trying to save unborn children – which I do commend them for. However, just know that I have personally been inside of an abortion clinic, saw the conditions, dealt with the staff and suffered the procedure. What I have to purport is not arbitrary or flippant; it is the stone cold truth.

  • Salvation Help

Dear Lord Jesus, I realize that I am a sinner and have broken your laws. I understand that my sin has separated me from you. I am sorry and I ask you to forgive me. I accept the fact that your son Jesus Christ died for me, was resurrected, and is alive today and hears my prayers. I now open my heart’s door and invite Jesus in to become my Lord and my Saviour. I give Him control and ask that He would rule and reign in my heart so that His perfect will would be accomplished in my life.

    In Jesus name I pray.
    Amen.

Abortion & the Church

Posted by Rev. K.H. Marple on March 9, 2010

Most statistics conclude that about (nearest estimation) 43% of ALL WOMEN will have had at least one abortion before she turns 45 years old. Another dire statistic is that about 47% of ALL ABORTIONS is a second (or more) abortion for that woman. In other words, the probability of a second abortion is nearly 50 %.

According to The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform:

  • Women identifying themselves as Protestants obtain 37.4% of all abortions in the U.S.
  • Catholic women account for 31.3%
  • Jewish women account for 1.3%
  • Women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions
  • 18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as “Born-again/Evangelical”.

Who dropped the ball?

First, the reason why proclaimed Christian women are getting abortions is because the sin of abortion is not being taught in the pulpit nor is it seen as an actual murder. Why? Because the Church walks around, jumps over and ignores the fact that sin requires repentance – requires a savior.

The obvious silence in the Church keeps Christians from getting into the fight against abortion and the restoration of Christian women victimized by it. Without restoration there is no freedom. Facing the war is only half the battle.

The Church as a whole hasn’t taken much of a position with discipling post-abortive women. There are many symptoms of Post Abortion Syndrome; depression, anxiety, sadness…but the worst is knowing she let God down. Repentance brings forgiveness! But most PAS women do not think they are worthy of forgiveness.

But not all Christian women were always Christians. Many women have come to know Jesus as Savior later in life – but that does not mean the Church can still ignore it and it definitely does not mean it never happened. Your sin is under the Blood, but repentance is still required so you can heal.

Psalm 51:10-12 says, ‘(v10)Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (v11)Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. (v12)Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.’ –ESV-

What’s the next step? Bring your sin before the Lord. How can God forgive if you think you don’t need His forgiveness?

James 4:1-2 says, ‘(v1)What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? (v2)You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.’ –ESV-

The conclusion to this dilemma in the Church is kind of murky. And that’s too bad because the very first place a Christian woman in crisis should want to go is to her Church for help and guidance, but unfortunately, the Church is lacking. We need more outreach with Crisis Pregnancy because there are three victims….the baby that might die and the mother and father that will allow it.
