White House officials have acknowledged that abortion and the controversy surrounding embattled late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller are holding up President Barack Obama’s potential selection of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to become the next Health Secretary.
Sebelius and Obama want to rescind a Bush administration rule that strengthened job protections for doctors and nurses who refuse for moral reasons to perform abortions. They are under the opinion that abortion should be accessible and legal in any form at any time and that all health care professionals should be forced to comply as well as the institutions where they work. For all intents and purposes, they would call it a ‘hate crime’ if anyone in the medical field said NO to abort a child.
Look at how this is worded: “Federal law has long forbidden discrimination against health care professionals who refuse to perform abortions or provide referrals for them on religious or moral grounds.” Sneaky. It looks great until you really stand back and look real hard at it.
However, “the Bush administration’s rule adds a requirement that institutions that get federal money certify their compliance with laws protecting the rights of moral objectors. It was intended to block the flow of federal funds to hospitals and other institutions that ignore those rights.” Obvious. Health care workers of any kind do not have to counsel nor perform acts that would end the life of a child.
“That rule was actually a poorly drafted last-minute attempt to, I think, restrict health care access and I think it would have had far-reaching and unintended consequences,” says Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colo., who co-chairs the Congressional Pro-choice Caucus and has introduced legislation to overturn the regulation.
Incredibly, the Democrats actually believe this has to do with ‘health care’. In fact, if you go to any pro-choice website, you will see that term over and over – women’s ‘health care’. How does killing a human being that cannot defend itself ‘health care’?
How does one have health if one is dead? How is abortion ‘health care’?
