Just when you thought the Dems forgot about it, here it is in an article dated today in the St. Louis Post Dispatch: A proposed bill – the Freedom of Choice Act – promises major changes in the U.S. abortion landscape and has Roman Catholic bishops threatening to close Catholic hospitals if the Democratic Congress and White House make it law. This legislation has some Roman Catholic bishops threatening to shutter the country’s 624 Catholic hospitals — including 11 in the Archdiocese of St. Louis (my home town) — rather than comply.
Catholic hospitals make up 13 percent of the country’s nearly 5,000 hospitals, and employ more than 600,000 people. One of every six Americans hospitalized in the United States is cared for in a Catholic hospital.
This was a concern a couple of months ago and since the nomination of Kathleen Sebelius and her death nell for unborn American citizens, this has come forward again. And thankfully so – since sometimes we put these things on the back burner as if it will go away. I promise you, the Freedom of Choice Act is not going away.
Shutting down Catholic and other faith-based hospitals is just the beginning.
It is expected that Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., will introduce FOCA in the U.S. Senate. She, as well as Sebelius, nominated for HHS, are EMILY’s List politicians for hire that are extreme abortion rights oriented Democrats. The FOCA has huge loop holes designed to make legislation for ‘life viability’ for all Americans, rather preborn or in nursing homes. Our choice for life will eventually be taken away.
“Anti-choice groups know that there are not enough votes to move the Freedom of Choice Act, yet they continue to engage in a divisive campaign demonizing FOCA to distract the public from their opposition to birth control and accurate sex education,” said Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America as stated in the St. Louis Post Dispatch. Abstinence, abstinence, abstinence.
Sebelius has vetoed every piece of legislation aimed at a “woman’s right to know” about abortions and on requiring mothers to look at ultrasounds of their baby before going through with the procedure. Women are under the guise of being protected by equal rights to have equal power of their bodies. Seeing an ultrasound of a preborn child moving their arms and legs, hearing the heartbeat – now the mother knows this is a person, known now by God – how could anyone kill such a beautiful child? Ah, now ‘it’ is a person, a child growing and taking nourishment from the mother, not some blob of cells abortion providers will say ‘it’ is.
There is nothing equal about killing a child that cannot defend itself nor is this child THEIR body. It is the body of a child to come, one that was destined by God, a child known to him since the foundations of the world.
