…what a great person she is! Read on:
TOPEKA ( DAVID KLEPPER The Star’s Topeka correspondent):
‘Avoiding one final clash with abortion opponents, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius on Friday signed into law legislation giving women the right to see a fetal sonogram before an abortion…..The new law also requires the state to make and distribute pamphlets and a video about abortion and fetal development. And it requires clinics to post signs telling patients that coerced abortions are illegal….In signing the bill, Sebelius — a Democrat and an abortion rights supporter — steered clear of one final showdown with anti-abortion lawmakers as she exits Kansas politics.
“There were veto-proof majorities breathing down her neck and, additionally, this time she’s in the national spotlight,” said Mary Kay Culp, executive director of Kansans for Life. “She didn’t do this for women. She did it for one woman (Sebelius).”’ Read the article here.
The AP goes on to say (By JOHN HANNA, Associated Press Writer):
‘The bill, which takes effect July 1, amends a state law requiring doctors to obtain a patients informed consent before performing an abortion. The measure requires abortion providers who use ultrasound or monitor fetal heartbeats to give their patients access to the images or sound at least 30 minutes before an abortion.
Spokeswoman Beth Martino said Sebelius concluded that the bill had no constitutional flaws, didn’t jeopardize patient privacy and did not block access to health services. The governor has in the past vetoed legislation sought by anti-abortion groups.’ Read the article here.
It’s interesting how the same story can have two different perspectives. Anyway…it’s obvious that Sebelius is doing this GREAT DEED to make herself look like the bipartisan that she thinks she is, for confirmation of Secretary of the HHS, of course. It is a means to an end.
When you read the articles in their entirety, you’ll notice distinct differences on opinion of the actual fact of the matter, which proves it is a liberal media. But what is the same is what anti-abortion activists see; a woman who is clearly doing something pitifully meager for ‘women’s health’ in her state of Kansas (where she was not born and raised) and not for saving the lives of children still resting in their mother’s womb.
I love the part where she watches her back with ‘no constitutional flaws’. Nice.
John J. Gilligan was an Ohio governor from 1971 – 1975. Why such a short term? He was one of the WORST governors in the history of Ohio. Why should you care who he is?? That’s Kathleen Sebelius’s FATHER. If you get the time, it’s a long read, but it will give you an idea of what a horrible governor Gilligan was. Read that here. This will give you an idea of what kind of stock she comes from.
