Dawn Johnsen…another extreme to an extreme administration. I’m seeing the obvious here…another white woman with hard-nosed pro-abortion tactics. And the arrogance! I’ve never seen such a show of pridefulness and vanity of ones self as it is in the Obama Party.
This new ‘Obama Party’ gets worse. Even this quote from National Review Online, “The most remarkable, or certainly the least remarked on, aspect of Barack Obama’s first 100 days has been the infectious arrogance of his presidency. There’s no denying that this is liberalism’s greatest opportunity for wish fulfillment since at least 1964. But to listen to Democrats, the only check on their ambition is the limit of their imaginations.” I couldn’t have said it any better. Well, actually I tried to in a recent post.
Anyway, let’s get back to Dawn Johnsen. From the Louisville Courier-Journal; read on:
The Office of Legal Counsel, which decides what government actions are permissible under law, had been relatively obscure until the George W. Bush administration, when it was at the center of the controversy over torture and executive powers….While in her current position at IU’s Maurer School of Law, Johnsen criticized how the office was run under the younger Bush. That criticism, along with her previous work as legal director of the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League, generated Republican opposition to her nomination.
One Democrat, Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson, has said he won’t vote for Johnsen but did not say whether he would support a Republican filibuster if there is one….The Senate Judiciary Committee approved her nomination on a party-line vote last month . A vote by the full Senate hasn’t been scheduled.
But, isn’t this interesting….Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter who, until he switched parties yesterday, had been the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee — had said he was considering filibustering Johnsen. Facing re-election next year, Specter had been under pressure from conservatives in his state. But his becoming a Democrat changes the equation.
And then the pathetic –And liberal advocacy groups have been working the grass roots and airwaves for Johnson, including enlisting actress Kathleen Turner to record automated calls that ran in nine states to encourage calls to senators’ offices in favor of Johnsen. Isn’t Kathleen Turner a Canadian?
Criticism, along with her previous work as legal director of the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL), generated Republican opposition to her nomination.
So, what is the Office of Legal Counsel? All executive orders and proclamations proposed to be issued by the President are reviewed by the Office of Legal Counsel for form and legality, as are various other matters that require the President’s formal approval.
With someone so pro-abortion, what can really happen here? With proper smoke and shadow, and this administration is very good at it, anything can be passed and/or approved.
Bottom line is that Johnsen is NOT bipartsan and NOT pro-choice (which is bad enough); she is an extreme left wing Democrat and PRO-abortion with no apologies. This is one more step to the Socialization of America.
