Isaiah 61:3 says, ‘To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.’ – KJV.
First, let me start by reprinting a short story from the Associated Press dated today:
Abortion foes interested in buying Kansas clinic – TOPEKA, Kan. The leader of an anti-abortion group says the organization is interested in buying the now-closed clinic of slain abortion provider George Tiller. Tiller’s family announced Tuesday that his clinic in Wichita, Kansas, was shutting down permanently. The doctor was fatally shot on May 31. Operation Rescue President Troy Newman said he would love to make an offer for the property and that his group had discussed the idea. Newman’s group bought another former abortion clinic in Wichita in 2006 for its headquarters. Newman said Operation Rescue could use more space.
Asked about Newman’s comments, Tiller attorney Dan Monnat called them an “irreverent publicity stunt.”
The short version of the moral of this story is that this place of death will now be used as a place of LIFE and fighting for the right for life. Here’s the shortish-long version, a story that is personal and true and proves God will Glorify Himself in all situations just like He did in Wichita, Kansas…

I never met my father-in-law, he passed away many years before I met my husband. He was a hard working man that learned what hard work was at a very early age. He had a trucking company that was eventually dissolved when he wouldn’t bow down to the local ‘union’. It was a blow; he had a family to provide for. During this time, a man he knew handed him the keys to what would be his new business venture – the bar business. After so many years, he eventually had five bar/restaurant businesses, not necessarily at the same time.
But one day, his son, my husband – an associate at local Assembly of God Church – led him in a prayer that would save his life. He accepted Jesus that day as his Saviour. That is when he gave up the bar business and looked to the Lord.
Okay Rev, what does this have to do with the story in Kansas????
The five bars that he had owned were either converted to churches by the new owners or had burned to the ground, the last one just three years ago. You see, God honored my father-in-law for saying yes to His Son, Jesus. God showed that he can make beauty from ashes. Literally.
God works in a way that we cannot understand and we really aren’t meant to. The clinic in Kansas is now closed and will be used for LIFE. It doesn’t wipe away the fact that nearly 64,000 lives were lost in the fight, but not one more will be lost there again. It’s a pitiful lash-out calling this a publicity stunt. Tiller’s clinic, which was no clinic at all, will be used to the Glory of God and will be a source of hope and life for those that have no voice or choice. There you can learn how to save lives, in the name of Jesus.
