Isn’t time to get off the couch?

In this Christian walk, we stumble and we stall. Even the most fundamental Christian can. No one is perfect except for Him. Still, it happens. We get up, dust off and try again. God honors that. Jesus said to forgive 70 times 7*!

We get so lethargic with our walk and with some Christians it’s almost pathological…get saved and sit the rest of the dance out. It’s all good, right?

What happened? Why are we on the couch channel surfing?

A young woman from Ohio fled from her family because of the persecution she suffered from her Muslim family after she converted to Christianity. She fears for her life, as well she should. Honor killing is not unheard of in the Muslim world. It’s not always the family that could do something so heinous, a lot of times it’s someone that has been ‘issued’ to take care of this.

“(The) Lord is preparing me and He has me hidden . . . until the time is right,” Fathima Rifqa Bary. “I am called to the nations. Send me to the deepest darkest places into the pagan land.”

When Rifqa left Ohio and fled to Florida, she left behind a flash drive that contained her many writings of her walk with Jesus. I’m certain it was not by accident.

The point of the story is that this courageous young woman, just 17 years old, is professing the Lord Jesus Christ to the nations at all costs, not matter what. And what do we do? We hold down the couch.

Rifqa said she must approach strangers and talk about Jesus.

She’s doing what we are all called as Christians to do – ‘Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.’  Mark 16:15 KJV

Get out of the bar, put out your cigarette…and get off the couch!

*Matthew 18:21 says, ‘Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? v22Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.’
