‘It was a good idea at the time’

Let’s look at the whole ‘I have to have a baby’ syndrome:

In a ruling issued yesterday (9/29/09), the court refused to become involved in a Suffolk Probate and Family Court case in which the mother of twin daughters, known only as Jane Doe, is demanding that the New England Cryogenic Center Inc. identify a sperm donor known only as D237…..Jane Doe “seeks disclosure of his identity so that she can institute a paternity and child support claim against him and obtain medical information that may be useful in treating conditions she claims her daughters have developed,’’ Appeals Court Judge James McHugh wrote for a three-judge panel.

The twin girls may have a condition called ectodermal dysplasia which is a group of conditions in which there is abnormal development of the skin, hair, nails, teeth, or sweat glands.

Jane Doe voluntarily placed the twins in the custody of the state Department of Children and Families. Read the entire article here.

Now there’s a fairy tale ending to a really bad idea; after all of that, she relinquishes custody of her daughters because they’re sick.

Either this woman was not married at the time of insemination, which is my guess, OR she is a lesbian partner of another woman. Thus far, we aren’t told. I do have to question her ability to interact with polite society, though.

However, this woman could have adopted IF she met all of the requirements which is usually no criminal record, has steady and enough income, is mentally competent, in good health, age limitations, in some states: MARRIED.

But try as I might, I cannot find any requirements for candidates regarding IVF or artificial insemination. You can be single, you can be married, you can be a lesbian…as long as you have the money to fund it. These fertility doctors could not possibly care less if these women SHOULD be mothers, they just want their money.

There is another common denominator – DNA. Everyone wants ‘their own child’ from their own gene pool. Somehow birthing a child makes you a better woman? No – being a woman of God does. But everyone is busy being God instead of understanding that their fate might be being childless. God knows what He’s doing; He has His reasons and a Will that is only know to Him.

Let God be God.
