What a day! I got to see our tax dollars at work. I have never been to the state capitol building. While listening to the testimony of the prochoice side, I had a chance to write a few notes on my phone – mostly because I forgot my notepad.
I met some incredible prolife people and heard some great testimony that included a doctor, a businessman that explained how abortion hurts the economy, Walter Weber – Senior Litigation Counsel for the American Center for Law & Justice, abortion survivor Melissa Ohden, Dr. Willke from International and National Right to Life, Janet Porter of Faith2Action and her assistant Katelyn, VP of Warren County Right to Life Lori Viars, State Rep. Wachtmann who sponsors HB125 – the Heartbeat Bill. I cannot emphasize enough how impressed and honored I was being surrounded by such prolife pillars.
I kept in mind that Ohio is a major swing state in America and is paramount during election time. That being said, I am aware of how important this legislation is in the big picture. Being a part of this was like a drug…I LOVED IT.
First (this is not prolife related), my husband and I overheard the state patrolmen in the rotunda wondering what will happen to their benefits because of the newly passed bill, the SB5 (a bill designed to restrict collective bargaining by state employees). Again, this is to keep taxpaying Ohioans that can’t pay their own medical bills from paying union state workers benefits and their ex-right to strike and hold us hostage. I heard a small business owner on the news saying, “I can’t pay for my own Social Security and Medicare so why should I HAVE to pay for state workers?”
As for my notes on prochoice testimony, here goes!
One of the first people that testified was a man complaining that we are taking all of this out of context regarding tax money paying for abortions…interesting, kind of, mostly because we all know about the Hyde Amendment to keep that from happening but through an accounting slight-of-hand, NO TAX MONEY EVER PAYS FOR ABORTION!! I am so glad he cleared that up for us!
I have to wonder, how does a lesbian have an opinion on abortion? Enough said. If you were there, you’d know exactly what I’m talking about. She had the nerve to show video ‘testimony’ of a woman (her face was hidden) whose child died right after birth. I’m not getting what this has to do with abortion. Anyone? While on NARAL of Ohio’s sight, I saw some serious typos. Brilliant.
Is abortion kosher? A woman representing Jewish prochoice, which I have never heard of, said that they don’t know when life really begins and that it is a Jewish woman’s right to abort if need be – this woman made the analogy of how Jewish women want control of their own family planning. Read this from aish.com and see for yourself:
“As a general rule, abortion in Judaism is permitted only if there is a direct threat to the life of the mother by carrying the fetus to term or through the act of childbirth. In such a circumstance, the baby is considered tantamount to a rodef, a pursuer after the mother with the intent to kill her. Nevertheless, as explained in the Mishna, if it would be possible to save the mother by maiming the fetus, such as by amputating a limb, abortion would be forbidden. Despite the classification of the fetus as a pursuer, once the baby’s head or most of its body has been delivered, the baby’s life is considered equal to the mother’s, and we may not choose one life over another, because it is considered as though they are both pursuing each other.”
Well, I’d say that is the stupidest thing I’ve ever read. Also, keep in mind that Jewish women make up for 3% of all abortions, which means that the estimate of Jews abortion since 1973 would be nearly 2 million people, just slightly lower than the 6 million Jews that Hitler killed.
She also mentioned that there is a ‘gross abuse of power’ given to the government to pass such a law that would take away women’s rights! I’d say that the upper hand here is that women have been brain washed to the point of believing that taxpaying Americans are calling the shots to hinder them from doing whatever they want to their body….REALLY? Have we kept you down? Kept you from intentionally murdering your unborn child? I’d say not….actually, women like her help pass laws that allow minor girls to cross state lines, without their parents consent, to get an abortion. AND judges have said that they allow nearly everyone of those girls permission to abort. Keep in mind these little girls aren’t old enough to drive, vote or defend our country. But they can kill their unborn child. This woman also mentioned that the unborn child has no right to religious freedom, thus opening the door to ‘religion’ during testimony. PERFECT! This is right up my alley. If you want to know when Life begins, read your Bible – not the Torah, the BIBLE. After all, scripture balances scripture.
Another woman testified about how these bills are detrimental to women’s healthcare. Interesting…I had no idea women’s health was from the waist down! Again, thanks for clearing that up for me! Women are nothing but a uterus and ovaries? Really? Is there really any medical reason for abortion? Do you want to see your child in Heaven one day and say that you trusted your doctor’s advice and not GOD?
AND THEN THE CHERRY ON MY CAKE OF THE DAY: State Rep. Antonio actually said, out of her own mouth – that it’s okay if some unborn babies die. Really. Not anymore. With every last breath I have, I will do whatever it takes to unravel Roe.
Well, this was quite a day for me and my husband. It was eye opening, it was rejuvenating, and it was amazing!
