I wrote a short article about a hero named John Pouillon about 2 ½ years ago. You might remember that Mr. Pouillon was shot dead in September of 2009 while holding an anti-abortion sign at a high school, a place he frequented instead of an abortion facility. I found that interesting but quickly understood that high school age kids are more sexually active than we think and either knows someone that’s had an abortion or is considering an abortion themselves. We should all want to be more like Pouillon. He got up off the couch and did something he was passionate about – saving the babies – even though he lost his own life; martyred for what he believed in.
There are heroes that stand in the gap every day at abortion facilities to save the lives of the unborn. These selfless people – the real heroes that want no notoriety – risk everything to save that one child that day. Typically, these real heroes get nothing in return; no monetary support at all. Instead they get yelled at, flipped the finger, criticized, rained on, snowed on, and sunburnt.
Everything they do is straight from their heart. They aren’t looking for the glory other than saving lives.
Most churches won’t do what they do.
There is one couple that goes every day the facility is open for the business of killing. They do nothing in pride. They live by their Christian beliefs that God has instilled in them. They evangelize and counsel as well. They PRAY.
Sometimes, it tough for me to go to the facility because I’ve been in one many years ago. One day I came to pray with my husband and saw a mother take her teenaged daughter into the killing place. What struck me as even more insidious is that the mom brought a book with her so she would have something to do while her daughter was aborting her grandchild. It took me back to when my mother made me abort…although she didn’t bring a book, my mom didn’t seem the least bit concerned, either.
There were no heroes for me that day and I PRAISE GOD for the heroes I know today that STAND IN THE GAP for the unborn.
“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19, NKJV.
