PRIDE AND PLAYING GOD? Now they call surrogates Breeders and wonder if this will hurt women? How can it not? But the most important part of this story of artificially created children is why America aborts 4K children per day but will pay a surrogate 20-40K to have babies for other people – does pride play a part in being a ‘biological’ parent rather than bringing love and security to a child already born? God brought children into the world to be taken care of by people who cherish His Creation whether they are ‘bios’ or not. Where is the love for ALL children?
“You can’t sell your kidney for profit but you can purchase an egg or sell a child,” she says. “There needs to be more checks and balances……Most of the consideration within surrogacy is toward the adults and what they want. Often, it’s not in the best interests of the children.” Read the rest here.
Surrogates are NOT the savior to a childless couple. Creating designer babies is abominable and a desperate attempt to be AS God.
“A lot of lawmakers aren’t looking at these issues. They’re seeing things at the People magazine level. Someone can’t have a baby, here’s this technology and let’s change the law so we can help them,” says Jennifer Lahl, founder of the Center for Bioethics and Culture, which produced the documentary “Breeders.” “But is this really good for women? [Will we] create a new class, or maybe a subclass, of women who will become breeders?” Read the rest here.
People are creating children in dishes for celebrities and gay couples, and some will force a surrogate to abort: “The final straw came a few months ago. The rich couple settled [wanted a boy] for female embryos but wanted the surrogate to “reduce” (i.e., terminate) one of the female embryos if both of them took. They didn’t want to raise twin girls.”
In a story just over a year ago, a surrogate was offered 10K to abort because of an abnormality: “The test confirmed her worst fears: It showed the baby did have a cleft lip and palate, a cyst in the brain, and a complex heart abnormality……..’Given the ultrasound findings, (the parents) feel that the interventions required to manage (the baby’s medical problems) are overwhelming for an infant, and that it is a more humane option to consider pregnancy termination‘.”
HUMANE? The surrogate chose not to abort, suffered a long legal battle but the child is with her new parents who aren’t scared of her health issues.
Surrogacy problems aren’t just here in America, there are countries that have made this a legal kind of ‘trade’, to have children for people abroad. But this has made other legal issues: “…stateless babies, a consequence of the increased popularity of assisted reproductive technology abroad and of the different ways across the world in which citizenship is granted…..a child is automatically granted a green card if the permanent resident mother has the baby in her home country and returns to the U.S. within two years of the birth……Caught between a complicated set of Indian and U.S. immigration laws, she’s not an American citizen like her biological father. But she’s also not Indian, which is where she was born through in vitro fertilization using donor eggs and a gestational carrier, and where now, as a citizen of no country, she’s trapped.”
India has become a hub for international surrogacy, which brings in more than $400 million a year; India has legalized commercial surrogacy.
Let the IVF statistics speak for themselves: ‘Of every 100 eggs fertilised [babies] in an IVF laboratory, only 5 will become live births. In other words, 95% of all IVF embryos are discarded, perish in the Petri dish or die in the womb.’ Read the rest here and here.
IVF babies either die during the process or are ‘reduced’…aborted. In recent years, IVF has nearly doubled because gay couples want children but cannot reproduce themselves. God made a way for a man and woman to have a family, but ‘man’ made a way through technology and sin to create what they cannot have NATURALLY.
Recently, a book from a well known Pastor in Texas wrote about a childless couple that had a child through IVF. Truly, IVF or artificial insemination is NOT of God and should NEVER be applauded by any Christian, much less a Pastor. Because of this Pastor’s stamp of approval of IVF/artificial insemination, he has shown that God is not GOD but the will of man is. God created man, we did not create or polish up God.
We create a culture of death for poor women but pay out 20+K for ‘gestational carriers’ while 4K babies die every day in abortion facilities. It is BEYOND outrageous; it’s deplorable and SIN.
Adoption will be what saves our children from destruction, adoption saves the lives of who was once unwanted or orphaned. Children don’t have an expiration date – they are in need every minute of every day. For childless married couples, adoption is the Godly and loving option to give life to someone that wants to love you forever.
Well written! I will forward this. — Tony
