A POLITICAL CONVERSATION – by Jeremiah Johnson Ministries
Is it unreasonable to ask Christians to simply vote for the candidate they feel best represents biblical values?
I openly confess that I have NEVER understood the wars surrounding politics. Here is my process:
Every election year, I blot out Democrat or Republican and I also blot out the candidates names. I then check whatever boxes best represent biblical values.
✅ Pro Life
✅ Pro Israel
✅ Pro Religious Liberty
And on and on…
The candidate and party that has the most checked boxes is who I vote for. Period. White, black, hispanic, male, female, etc. If any Democrat or any other party had the most checked boxes, I would vote for them in a heartbeat. Period.
For example, in the 2016 Florida Primaries, I voted for Tedd Cruz over Donald Trump. Why? Because I believed he more rightly represented biblical values.
In November when the election became Donald Trump versus Hillary Clinton, I again, blotted out the political parties and names and simply checked the boxes. I then had no other option but to vote for Trump.
When Christians start bashing Joe Biden or Donald Trump for their demeanor, competency, decisions etc, I personally do not understand. Put the men and political parties aside and just check boxes based off biblical values. Why is this so hard?
I look at the 2020 election and don’t even begin to understand what the debate is among Christians as to who to vote for. Without tearing down either man, can we just look at the Bible to determine our vote? Can someone help me understand what I’m missing?
