Podcast: 40 Days for LIFE and the Public Witness

40 Days for LIFE has two 40 day vigils every year since 2007, saving over 18K lives! Go to 40DaysForLife.com to find a vigil near you.

Our prolife ministry began after googling 40 Days for Life and seeing a prolife public witness.

40 Days For Life Model Does Not Work.

This has been an interesting thing for me. I’ve pondered and considered everything, all the prolife movement has to offer. And it pains me to even think this out loud, but the 40 Days for Life model does not work, and it wasn’t set up to.

Now, while a bunch of my friends are gasping at this, I must try to explain this as simply as I can without pointing persecuting fingers at anyone or any entity. Look, the people who participate in 40DFL are gems. Truly. But if I only see you during 40DFL, then this has become a dismal failure.

I loved 40DFL. I found it online in 2008. I saw this term I never heard before, post-abortive. It was like looking into a mirror, I got it. I needed it. But after all these years, I finally had to take a hard look at 40DFL. I did not like what I saw.

For the most part, and I mean MOST, people who participate in 40DFL will only come during their allotted time they signed up for and when the campaign is over, that’s it. We don’t see them until the next campaign. WHY? Well, as an ex-catholic, I’m pretty sure I know the answer: It’s works based rather than Holy Spirit led.

The 40DFL model has never said they advocate for any one religion. However, they have not done what they should to bring more Evangelical Christians [Baptist, COG, AG, etc.] or Protestant Christians [Episcopal, UMC, Lutheran, etc.], if anything at all. Everything has been Catholic based, and if the Spring Campaigns haven’t proven that starting off on Ash Wednesday, then you aren’t paying attention. And for this, I blame 40DFL for passively advocating for Catholics rather than Evangelical Christians. 40DFL has chased away Evangelicals and Protestants because they see 40DFL as Catholic only. Maybe 40DFL assumed that Evangelicals follow Catholic traditions? Rather, we simply follow the Bible and the Holy Spirit, not a liturgy or sabbath keeping or sacraments.

The model was supposed to bring more people to the sidewalk of abortion mills with the intent of showing folks that they are needed year round. But for the most part, and I mean MOST, that has not happened. The 40DFL model is supposed to attract more participants, all of us, and show us that we are needed to shut down abortion mills. 40DFL – and other prolife groups – like to take all the glory when a mill shuts down, but the truth is that graphic public outreaches work which takes abortion money away, or maybe the law was finally in our favor.

Last campaign, it was quite obvious that 40DFL tried to ‘own’ the sidewalk for the 40 days campaigns; no graphic images, not allowed to openly advocate for rescues, speakers had to be some kind of androgynous 40DFL approved prolifer, etc. As an Evangelical Christian, that binds the hands of God from doing with us His Will.

Prayer and passivity [acceptance of what happens, without active response or resistance] is the 40DFL model, and that is exactly what they got…and continue to get. Passivity has never won one soul to Heaven but it will send someone straight to hell. Other outreach models DO work, ones that preach the Gospel, share Jesus, and loves someone enough to tell them they are wrong and need a Savior.

So I suppose the moral of this story is this: 40DFL is not going to change, neither is there model. It’s the 80/20 rule, only 20% or less will continue being on the sidewalk all year. That is a awful shame.

Pray to end abortion? Arise and go, DO SOMETHING.

SIDEWALK CHRONICLES: Prolife Mentorship

“I don’t know about you, but I didn’t wake up one day and find myself witnessing on the sidewalk of abortion facilities or on the steps of the Statehouse fighting for unborn life. And if you did, GREAT, but most of us prolife boots-on-the-ground soldiers did not. And most of us have mentors who have contributed to our lives, whether knowingly or not……My goal with this article is to make all prolifers understand that people are aware of where we are and what we do. We absolutely have to be a positive source and perhaps a mentor you did not know that you are. I have four mentors who brought me to where I am now. I may add to that list, such as the selfless others who pound the sidewalk and expect no accolades EVERY DAY. They may be my greatest source of strength at times.”

PLEASE read the rest here.

EXPOSING THE ABORTION AGENDA FROM THE PULPIT, ON THE SIDEWALK & IN THE STATEHOUSE. KeepLifeLegal advocates for unborn life on the sidewalks of abortion facilities, the steps of the Statehouse, and the Church with prayer, community outreach, and real LIFE supporting options.

10 things YOU can do to support LIFE!

A Pastor friend of mine asked, “What can people do that can’t or won’t go to the sidewalk but has burden for the unborn?” While everyone is welcome on the sidewalk, some people can’t come. Regardless of the reason why you cannot come to the sidewalk, there are things you can do to help:

  1. Support your local prolifers. You pass them all the time on your way to work or the grocery store. They stand in pouring rain, deal with excruciating heat, and the crippling cold of winter. You would be surprised how far a kind word goes. Feel free to wave, too!
  2. Volunteer at your local pregnancy center. You have no idea how much your life skills can help young, scared pregnant women. And sometimes these centers could use your extra time to sort through donated clothes and baby items.
  3. Remember to vote PROLIFE. We need prolife leaders; Judges, Mayors, Council people, Representatives, Senators, etc. Never should a person hold office that does not believe in representing ALL lives, not just the born ones. Call and email your representative often! After all, they work for YOU and their unborn future voters!
  4. Give and volunteer at your local Prolife Committees, Right to Life, and PAC’s. They help to provide for moms and families, promote prolife lawmakers, and maintain a life-minded community.
  5. Church and Ministries. If your church does not have a prolife ministry or outreach, find out why and perhaps start one!
  6. Your Family. If you are a parent, raise your children to be a great mom or dad, a best friend, and a Godly husband or wife. If we can teach our kids that they are valuable, they will know their own children, planned or unplanned, are just as valuable.
  7. Participate in local outreaches. In many communities, you’ll find a 40 Days for Life group, prayer meetings, and fundraisers that could use your help.
  8. Help a mom. Do you know anyone that could use a babysitter once a week or a ride to work? Maybe someone to talk to? We all do! A little help to them goes a very long way, and a shoulder to lean on is like gold.
  9. Donate, donate, donate. Your kids or grandkids outgrown things are very valuable to a mom that can’t afford to buy those things. And DIAPERS! A big bag of diapers donated to your local outreach is a huge blessing. And your TIME is invaluable!
  10. PRAY. And pray some more! Post-abortive women and moms that are in the valley of decision need your prayerful support and lots and LOTS of Jesus. Please remember them in your prayer time!

KEEPLIFELEGAL

#Prolife #Arkansas tells #40DaysForLife vigil they can’t have signs?

KEEPLIFELEGALI see…new rules? According to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, after 8 successful, peaceful vigils since 2011, 40 Days for Life can’t have signs? And even if this was a statute for some years, why now? Even at Planned Parenthood, where 40 Days Fayetteville holds their vigil, said “the issue was between the state and the protesters, and that her group had no comment.”

The Highway Department has received a faxed letter of protest from a legal firm representing the group, a spokesman confirmed Thursday. The letter alleges that the state is violating the group’s First Amendment rights to free speech.

A letter from the Thomas More Society, who represents the national40 Days for LIFE 40 Days vigils, said: “We respectfully maintain that her directives — attempting to prohibit First Amendment activity on public property, including sidewalks along a state highway — were overly broad and, if enforced, they would be a clear violation of our client’s First Amendment rights.”

40 Days for Life in Fayetteville is the only 40 Days vigil in Arkansas and has seen “better-than-usual participation”, according to Sheena Archambault, coordinator of the 40 Days for Life Campaign.  Planned Parenthood of Fayetteville does offer abortion ‘services’ and contraception [abortifacients].

KEEPLIFELEGALWhat is interesting is that Planned Parenthood ‘has no opinion’ and seem undeterred while the state of Arkansas is pushing an unconstitutional ordinance on people who are peacefully protesting. Does anyone really know WHO made the complaint about the signs? Planned Parenthood of Fayetteville may not have a public ‘opinion’, but PP has never been….truthful.

Arkansas calls itself a “prolife state” but now shows that they may not be as prolife as the new Governor, Asa Hutchinson, purports to be.

Governor Hutchinson, what is your opinion of this obvious unconstitutional sudden ‘ban’ on signs…or is this a targeted attempt to keep the reality of unborn child killing a secret in The Natural State?
